Project Outline: With a partner, utilize existing architecture to space plan and design a medical office for a rural community. Emphasized are the ease of patient way finding and efficient workflow for staff. Select finishes that are timeless and provide comfort to local patients.
Project Size: 5,500 sq ft
The mood board and materials collage heavily influenced our design and helped establish a theme of rustic comfortability in this space.
Space planning and functionality were my main focuses for this project. Key functional features that support the office are the walk-through lab, central check-out desk, and a less accessible staff hallway to avoid extra patient foot traffic.
Reception: Mobile check-in kiosks (not-pictured) offer an alternative to face to face check-in or more privacy.
Three options of reception seating offers a comfortable environment for guests
Each exam room has a window, extra seating, and a wall mounted, drop-down, computer pad to maximize limited floor space.
Office Manager: This office is a private space with filing capacity and two guest chairs for small group meetings.
Nurses Station: Clear signage and landmarks near the exit doors allow easy way finding for patients; additionally, the simple floor plan avoids confusing loops and dead ends.
Staff Lounge: Features of the staff lounge include: lockers for personal item storage, couch and table seating, a kitchenette and private restroom.
